A little about me.

I was born and raised in the beautiful state of Vermont in a bustling ski town. My first experience with woodworking was back in shop class as a child, where I nearly took a finger off with a band saw doing something stupid.

I ended up going to college a few years later with aspirations to get into the IT sector. After numerous restaurant jobs during and after my college years, I was given an opportunity at a small Advertising Agency as a Web Developer.

A year later, I left the advertising agency to pursue a different job working for a large corporation managing our customers, coding, and maintaining our portal. I was still renting at this point and began renovating the bathroom as well as one of the guest bedrooms. (I checked w the landlord!)

Now, that said, I am typically looking at a computer screen for a majority of the day, so, doing something completely different such as woodworking or home improvement is almost therapeutic for me.

I ended up buying a house after that apartment, then, met an extremely helpful and knowledgeable friend. We’ll call him Mike. Now, I didn’t know Mike that well, but, mentioned that I had just bought 750 sq ft of bluestone and was planning a patio. “I’ll give you a hand with that, I’ve done it before.” And like that, I had a partner in crime who would constantly have some impact on whatever project I was doing. I owe this man a lot for all the things he’s taught and helped me with; without him, I have no idea what my house would look like.

In January of 2015, I met my wife; 2 years later, I convinced her to put up with me for the rest of her life and we were married the following year! I’m beyond thankful for having her by my side, she has been supportive on nearly everything, and keeps me in line. Sidenote: credit goes to her for “The Wooden Mustache” name!

I am a proud uncle to my brothers 3 boys, and my sister in-laws 4 girls. Thankfully my nephews are close, however, the nieces moved down to Florida a few years ago. Most of our families are spread out over New England with a few exceptions.

Our Fur Children

Now growing up, I’d always been more favorable of dogs, however, my wife really wanted a cat early in our relationship. We adopted Penny, a black tuxedo who was in the shelter for 5 long lonely years. She was beyond thankful for us taking her in and bonded with both of us. My wife’s sister had a brindle colored boxer-stafforshire mix that we eventually adopted also. We slowly introduced Bellah to Penny, and eventually they were laying in front of the fireplace next to each other. Unfortunately, we only had Penny a little under 3 years, but, we like to think that she lived her best life with us during that time.

My poor wife’s heart was broken and we began searching for a younger cat…yeah, not as easy as you would think. We found a great shelter located in Ashland, MA that had a few cats looking for homes. There were a two kittens in a room together, and one of them HAD A MUSTACHE. Well, we adopted those two sisters, enter Pistachio, and Hazel.

Unfortunately, the sisters were very timid and didn’t want to snuggle like most cats do. For Christmas in 2020, I let my wife adopt our 3rd cat Coco. She’s extremely social and has brought the sisters out of their shells.

The original mustache

I’ve never known my father without a mustache, he’s rocked that forever! My brother and I were lucky enough to take him golfing for his birthday a few years ago.
